HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

Sree Lakshmi Narasimhamoorthy Temple is situated in Vadakara Taluk, Kozhikode District in Kerala.This is a very ancient (approximately 400 year old) temple and was managed by the Thangal family, an aristocratic family at that time. The temple could not be managed by them in the long run due to the partition of the family and subsequent financial problems. The old Sreekovil and other buildings were fully damaged and no pujas were conducted for a long time.

During the year 1974 Sri Rayaroth Raman Nair, a farmer and devotee decided to renovate the temple after “Swarnaprasnam”. In the Swarnaprasnam conducted at that time it was found that a very powerful presence of lord Narasimhamoorthy and the renovation and beginning of pujas should be initiated for the welfare of the people around. Accordingly a fully renovated temple was built at his own expense and the daily pujas were conducted.

A two stored Kalyana Mandapam was also established and bhagavatha sapthaham was conducted by eminent acharyas. The management of the temple and temple land was entrusted to a trustee consisting of Sri Raman Nair and his children. In 1992 Sri Raman Nair passed away and his children continuing as trustees namely Retd. Justice R Bhaskaran, R Balakrishnan a Company Executive and R Sulochana a School Teacher.

During the year 2014 another swarnaprasnam was also conducted and it was found that there were some vasthu doshas in the construction of the temple and needed to be fully renovated. Accordingly a new temple was constructed and pujas started again. The temple is managed by the above private trustees.

Lord Vishnu took Narasimha form to protect his devotee, Sri Prahlad. Prahlada's father Hiranyakashipu, the demoniac King was torturing Devotees of Vishnu. And since Hiranyakashipu attained the boon that he can't be killed by Humans, Animals, can't be slained in day or night, neither in earth nor heaven etc, from Brahmadev, the Lord had to take such a form like Half man and half animal, as Narasimha Moorthy, to protect his devotee. 

In the present time we all have attributes of Hiranyakashipu, with " Kama, Krodha, etc etc. Unwanted and unbeneficial desires, anger, ignorance etc. To get rid of all these negatives, we can pray to Lord Narasimha Moorthy. 

In our Lakshmi Narasimha temple, the following offerings are done. Abhishekam with the chanting of Vedic mantra, Malar Nivedyam, Pushpanjali with specific mantra like Aikamatyam (for family happiness), Bagyasooktham for overall welfare, Santhana Gopalam, Vidya Rajagopalam, food offering like Palpayasam, VellaPayasam, Panakam etc.For an unalloyed devotee Lord Narasimha's protection is always there. For a devotee all times he is under the care and protection of Lord Narasimha Moorthy. People offer Janma Nakshatra Pooja, Ganapathi Homam, etc for getting blessings of the Lord.

  ചരിത്രപരമായ പശ്ചാത്തലം

കേരളത്തിലെ കോഴിക്കോട് ജില്ലയിലെ വടകര താലൂക്കിലാണ് ശ്രീ ലക്ഷ്മി നരസിംഹമൂർത്തി ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. വളരെ പുരാതനമായ (ഏകദേശം 400 വർഷം പഴക്കമുള്ള) ക്ഷേത്രമാണിത്. അക്കാലത്ത് ഒരു പ്രഭു കുടുംബമായ തങ്ങൾ കുടുംബമാണ് ഇത് കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്തിരുന്നത്. കുടുംബത്തിന്റെ വിഭജനവും തുടർന്നുള്ള സാമ്പത്തിക പ്രശ്‌നങ്ങളും കാരണം ക്ഷേത്രം ദീർഘകാലം അവർക്ക് കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്യാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. പഴയ ശ്രീകോവിലിനും മറ്റ് കെട്ടിടങ്ങൾക്കും കേടുപാടുകൾ സംഭവിച്ചു വളരെക്കാലമായി പൂജകളൊന്നും നടന്നില്ല.

1974-ൽ ഒരു കർഷകനും ഭക്തനുമായ ശ്രീ രയരോത്ത് രാമൻ നായർ "സ്വർണ്ണപ്രശ്നത്തിന്" ശേഷം ക്ഷേത്രം പുനരുദ്ധരിക്കാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചു. അക്കാലത്ത് നടത്തിയ സ്വർണപ്രശ്നത്തിൽ നരസിംഹമൂർത്തിയുടെ അതിശക്തമായ സാന്നിധ്യം ഉള്ളതായി കാണുകയും അതിനാൽ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ നവീകരണവും പൂജകളുടെ തുടക്കവും ചുറ്റുമുള്ള ജനങ്ങളുടെ ക്ഷേമത്തിനായി ആരംഭിക്കണമെന്ന് കണ്ടെത്തി. അതനുസരിച്ച് പൂർണമായും നവീകരിച്ച ക്ഷേത്രം സ്വന്തം ചെലവിൽ പണിയുകയും നിത്യപൂജകൾ നടത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു.

രണ്ട് നിലകളായുള്ള കല്യാണമണ്ഡപം സ്ഥാപിക്കുകയും പ്രമുഖ ആചാര്യൻമാർ ഭാഗവത സപ്താഹം നടത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെയും ക്ഷേത്രഭൂമിയുടെയും നടത്തിപ്പ് ശ്രീ രാമൻ നായരും മക്കളും അടങ്ങുന്ന ഒരു ട്രസ്റ്റിയെ ഏൽപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. 1992-ൽ ശ്രീ രാമൻ നായർ അന്തരിക്കുകയും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മക്കളായ റിട്ട. ജസ്റ്റിസ് ആർ ഭാസ്കരൻ, ആർ ബാലകൃഷ്ണൻ കമ്പനി എക്സിക്യൂട്ടീവ്, ആർ സുലോചന സ്കൂൾ ടീച്ചർ എന്നിവർ ട്രസ്റ്റിമാരായി തുടരുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു .

2014-ൽ മറ്റൊരു സ്വർണപ്രശ്നവും നടത്തുകയും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ നിർമ്മാണത്തിൽ ചില വാസ്തുദോഷങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടെന്നും പൂർണ്ണമായും നവീകരിക്കേണ്ടതുണ്ടെന്നും കണ്ടെത്തി. അതനുസരിച്ച് പുതിയ ക്ഷേത്രം പണിയുകയും വീണ്ടും പൂജകൾ ആരംഭിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. മേൽപ്പറഞ്ഞ സ്വകാര്യ ട്രസ്റ്റിമാരാണ് ക്ഷേത്രം നിയന്ത്രിക്കുന്നത്.

  നരസിംഹാവതാരം.

തന്റെ ഭക്തനായ ശ്രീ പ്രഹ്ലാദനെ സംരക്ഷിക്കാൻ ഭഗവാൻ വിഷ്ണു നരസിംഹ രൂപം സ്വീകരിച്ചു. പ്രഹ്ലാദന്റെ പിതാവായ ഹിരണ്യകശിപു, അസുരരാജാവ് വിഷ്ണുഭക്തരെ പീഡിപ്പിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. മനുഷ്യനാലും മൃഗങ്ങളാലും കൊല്ലപ്പെടുകയില്ല, പകലോ രാത്രിയോ, ഭൂമിയിലോ, സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിലോ, കൊല്ലപ്പെടുകയില്ല എന്ന വരം ബ്രഹ്മദേവനിൽ നിന്ന് ഹിരണ്യകശിപു നേടിയതിനാൽ, തന്റെ ഭക്തനെ സംരക്ഷിക്കാൻ ഭഗവാൻ നരസിംഹമൂർത്തിയായി (പാതി മൃഗമായും പാതി മനുഷ്യനായും) രൂപമെടുക്കേണ്ടി വന്നു.

ഇക്കാലത്ത് നമുക്കെല്ലാവർക്കും ഹിരണ്യകശിപുവിന്റെ ഗുണങ്ങളുണ്ട്, "കാമം, ക്രോധം മുതലായവ. അനാവശ്യവും പ്രയോജനകരമല്ലാത്തതുമായ ആഗ്രഹങ്ങൾ, കോപം, അജ്ഞത മുതലായവ. ഈ ദോഷങ്ങളിൽ നിന്ന് മുക്തി നേടുന്നതിന്, നമുക്ക് നരസിംഹമൂർത്തിയെ പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കാം.

നമ്മുടെ ലക്ഷ്മി നരസിംഹ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ താഴെ പറയുന്ന വഴിപാടുകൾ നടത്തുന്നു. വേദമന്ത്ര ജപങ്ങളോടെയുള്ള അഭിഷേകം, മലർ നിവേദ്യം, ഐകമാത്യം (കുടുംബസന്തോഷം) തുടങ്ങിയ പ്രത്യേക മന്ത്രങ്ങളോടുകൂടിയ പുഷ്പാഞ്ജലി, സമ്പൂർണ ക്ഷേമത്തിന് ഭാഗ്യസൂക്തം, സന്താന ഗോപാലം, വിദ്യാ രാജഗോപാലം, പാൽപായസം, വെള്ളപായസം, പാനകം തുടങ്ങിയ അന്നദാനം. ഭക്തർക്ക് നരസിംഹ ഭഗവാന്റെ സംരക്ഷണം എപ്പോഴും ഉണ്ട്. ഒരു ഭക്തനെ സംബന്ധിച്ചിടത്തോളം അവൻ നരസിംഹമൂർത്തിയുടെ സംരക്ഷണത്തിലും സംരക്ഷണത്തിലുമാണ്. ഭഗവാന്റെ അനുഗ്രഹം ലഭിക്കുന്നതിനായി ആളുകൾ ജന്മനക്ഷത്ര പൂജ, ഗണപതി ഹോമം മുതലായവ അർപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
